Family & Background Information:
Father: Maximinus Bulstrode.
A pureblood who supported the Dark Lord’s reign during the first war and claimed that his actions had been influenced by the Imperius Curse when the Dark Lord was defeated, Maximinus went into a self imposed exile following the dismissal of all charges laid against him. When he married his wife Abigail, it did not matter to him that she was a Muggle – it was not until they had a child that it began to matter, particularly when all prayer that Millicent would be a squib went unanswered.
Mother: Abigail Bulstrode née Sinclair.
A muggle doctor with ambitions to open her own office when she met Maximinus, Abigail’s first contact with magic resulted in her being obliviated due to her fiercely volatile reaction to her daughter levitating a desired toy to herself. Despite cautions, her husband stayed with her, and was later forced to try and introduce her to a world that wanted nothing to do with her. Strains picked up relatively quickly between Abigail’s inherent rejection of magic and Maximinus’ many secrets and old prejudices forced to the fore.
Divorce: Abigail filed for divorce in Millicent’s fifth year – and while demands here were mostly met, there was the matter of Millicent’s custody and Maximinus’ demand that Abigail not be permitted access to the girl – even going so far as to call for her obliviation. This lead to a long legal battle and enormous strains between father and daughter. Millicent was frequently pitched between her parents to choose, and the political climate began to make Maximinus something of a genuine threat to his family.
The battle for custody settled shortly toward the middle of her first semester of sixth year, though Maximinus was filing an appeal for full rights on the grounds of being more fit to protect Millicent from harm in the coming war.
Kidnapping: Following the death of Albus Dumbledore, Maximinus ceased to give a damn about legal proceedings and kidnapped Millicent. Not long after, the Ministry was taken over and he forced her to leave the country with him with the aid of compulsion-based potions. For the duration of what would be the height of the second wizarding war, Millicent was completely absent as her father dragged her across Europe in an effort to stay as far away from the fight as humanly possible.
Run Away: When she and her father returned to the United Kingdom following Voldemort’s defeat, they came back to Abigail’s office burned to the ground and her house destroyed. The apartment complex Maximinus resided in had apparently suffered a ‘gas leak’ according to their landlord, and while Maximinus went to collect insurance, Millicent ran away.
Faulting her father for the loss of her mother, Millicent petitioned to return to school to at least finish her magical education, and convinced a friend of hers to let her stay with them until school started. She felt robbed – both of her childhood and her right to an education that could take her places – a lament of her mother’s that felt all the more real in that last year at Hogwarts.
Independent Adult: Following graduation, Millicent worked in order to afford a small flat of her own rather than return to her father. When Maximinus offered her half of the insurance money in exchange for the right to at least see her once in awhile, Millicent accepted and bought herself a house, which now serves as her home and place of business for kneazle breeding and familiar rescue.
