“Letting someone see you that vulnerable, it’s a scary thing.” – for Druella

“Hmm,” She tried so hard to understand her daughters – to truly listen to them so that when they came to her, she would have insightful answers that appealed to who they were as people. It took a great deal of effort sometimes, when her daughters proved to think in ways she just could not comprehend – but rather than try to appear all-knowing and therefore, always right as her own mother had done, Druella saw fit to inquire, if only so she might glean some better insight into how her little ones worked

“I just don’t understand why you would want to darling,” Her hand drifted idly through soft blond hair – so unlike her own, and very unlike Cygnus. Somehow, Narcissa had inherited the hair of her maternal grandmother, at least in color. In texture, she was very much her mother and that was truly quite soothing for Druella. “What do you gain out of baring your throat to anyone, least of all a man?”

‘don’t you dare.’ (NIFFLER)

Bad tone. Stopping where he was with the trinket in hand ( and rubbing almost idly against his belly, where under all normal circumstances there should have been a pouch to hide it in ) Trouble quickly arranged his features into something resembling contrition. He hoped.

After a few moments had passed, he sighed morosely and offered up the watch. He was just going to polish it – and really if Mummy didn’t want things to be picked up he shouldn’t go around leaving them abandoned!

@ Severus, smash or pass: Lucius Malfoy ( with Cissa’s blessing ofc )

{ Smash or Pass }

When he thought of karma coming back to haunt him for all of his misdeeds in life, he generally envisioned something a great deal more violent than this. Yet, it was a flawless strike – forcing a confession through his lips that had no right to see the light of day was by far a greater violation of his person than any amount of physical violence could equate to. He was too desensitized to it – but this, a humiliation so complete as to be nearly sublime – we precisely cruel enough to account for some karmic dues at last meting their way through to him. He refused to qualify his answer, to say anything more or less than what was expected, and even that was damnation in and of itself. “Smash,” It was grit out so softly, it would be a damned wonder if anyone actually heard it.

Deep Ass Starters.

Sometimes it’s hard to get in depth with your muse and their backstory, because you can’t figure out how to bring those things up with others. Here are a couple of starters intended to make things a little more personal!

“What’s holding you back?”
“I’m not comfortable with this conversation.”
“Will you /ever/ be comfortable with this conversation?”
“Let me in sometime!”
“It’s not that easy, you know.”
“Help me understand.”
“It’s hard to connect with someone when all they do is push you away.”
“Why are you always so cold?”
“Why are you always so happy?”
“Are you really happy now?”
“Who hurt you this badly to make you this way?!”
“What, did your ex mess you up that badly?!”
“Why do you keep fighting it any time you feel?”
“It’s a problem, I get it.”
“This is all kinds of messed up.”
“That’s not exactly a good coping method.”
“So what happened, with your parents, really?”
“What was your childhood like?”
“Everyone has at lest a little bit of mommy/daddy issues. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.”
“My parents aren’t exactly perfect models, either.”
“You were bullied? What for?”
“Was it hard? Coming out, I mean.”
“You can’t just run away all the time.”
“You can’t just hide all the time.”
“Are you still thinking about them?”
“I’m not the enemy here. But this makes me wonder who the real one is for you.”
“Is the reason you’re so cold and defensive because you feel threatened?”
“How long has it been since you last spoke to them?”
“You never talk about it, why?”
“How come you’re so different around them?”
“It’s like you don’t have a care or worry in the world.”
“You seem so perfect. I don’t get it.”
“What was your ex like?”
“I don’t think I was ever good enough for them.”
“Are you not comfortable being intimate?”
“Why don’t you feel comfortable being intimate?”
“Letting someone see you that vulnerable, it’s a scary thing.”
“Are you scared of being hurt?”
“Have you ever been taken advantage of?”
“Why are you afraid of saying I love you?”
“I never understood how someone could say those words so easily.”
“You’re hurting others the way you’ve been hurt in the past, don’t you think that’s ironic?”
“You use people to make yourself feel better.”
“I’m scared of being used again…”
“Losing someone isn’t easy, but you’re making it harder than it needs to be.”
“How long has it been since you lost them?”
“You’re too attached.”
“I’m not attached, I’m just comfortable with what I’m familiar to.”
“Maybe the real reason you’re so controlling is because, deep down you’d rather have them in your grasp than lose them.”
“Why did you ever break up?” / “Why did we ever break up?”

This is a friendly reminder that Gellert was canonically a student of Durmstrang. When I wrote that he was expelled on account of his experiments at school this is also canon. The part that is not canon is what those experiments were and who his targets were – that’s my brain baby. What this tells us is:

  • Gellert is NOT English, Irish, Scottish or Welsh. He’d have gone to Hogwarts in that case.

  • Gellert is NOT French. He’d have gone to Beauxbatons in that case.

  • Based on what we know of Durmstrang he could be Austrian, Bulgarian, Finnish, German, Norse or Swedish, to name a few options.

My Gellert is Swedish. He speaks German as a second language on account of his schooling in Durmstrang and was learning English when he was expelled. Canonly he was expelled when he was 16 but after doing the full math and realizing all things told he could only have known the Dumbledores logically for three months in that case, I altered the time frame a little – my Gellert knew the Dumbledores for eight months when Albus was 17 and Ariana was 14

What this means is:

  • Gellert never graduated. This is canon.
  • Gellert never went to school with the Dumbledores. Also canon.
  • Gellert speaking languages other than English has canon backing.
  • Gellert being Swedish has canon backing.
  • Gellert knowing the Dumbledores for LESS THAN A YEAR is completely canon.
  • Gellert having particularly strong opinions about the English is just reality knocking.
