Terms of endearment honestly freak Severus out a little bit? He was never exposed to the traditional kinds most people have heard growing up ( sweetheart, darling, honey, dear, etc. ) His parents loved one another – toxic though their relationship may have been – but it wasn’t the kind of domestic that warranted these terms. Eileen tended to give nicknames by means of Gaelic terms for animals – Severus was Raven, to match his father’s Hawk – but that was about the extent of it?

In school he obtained nicknames of a viler sort, though his Slytherin friends did utilize Twitch fondly, it’s hardly endearing. When he first started hearing things like this he was – well for lack of a better description? He was this emoji:

He finds them strange and in all the time I have written him, Severus has only used terms of endearment like this in heavily divergent verses ( such as his Prostitute AU ) or in tales where he has become a parent himself and even then, the endearments tend to be toward the child rather than a partner should he have one, which he rarely does as I’ve only ever dealt with him adopting tbh.

Honestly I wish because that would be hilarious and adorable and fantastic blackmail material for his mom to tell his future dates about and his friends to rag on but –

Severus actually had very little wall space because his room was mostly bed, dresser and wardrobe. They lived in one of those houses where the roof slants the room, and because Tobias kept getting blackmailed out of every coin he made the upkeep was pretty terrible. Paint and wallpaper peeling, all kinds of plumbing issues, the summer bug problem was atrocious.

Severus learned pretty early on not to have anything valuable out where it could be ripped, shattered or thrown so he’d be unlikely to plaster posters up and give Tobias anything else to wreck. As a result his room was eerily unlived in even for a kid who spent most of the year in boarding school. He kept all his school supplies locked in his trunk, only the broken things and that which didn’t fit went into drawers or the wardrobe, and there was only the most basic things on top of the dresser – hair brush with ties wrapped around the handle, basic hygiene products and MAYBE if he was brave, a book.

Thankfully none of his friends ever saw his house aside from Lily and even she wasn’t allowed in because listen, Eileen knew who she married and who she came back to. She knew things weren’t good and she was very protective of Tobias. She knew better than to let neighbors learn what went on behind closed doors. So nobody knows the absolute void Severus returned to in the summers, and really that’s probably for the best.

We don’t really have a lot of Wizarding Celebrities, but I imagine there is probably a Weird Sister that has his attention ~~but only in my fancasted version cause boy don’t get me started on the film version lmfao.~~

In any case – Muggle celebrity speaking, Severus stopped paying attention sometime ago so most of the people on this list are icons from the 70s and 80s – you know, when he actually noticed.

If nobody had to know Severus would likely not sleep with anyone; he’d want more caveats like no consequential blackmail. In a world of absolutely no repercussions whatsoever though? He wouldn’t say no to Lucius or Narcissa. ~~Or both, for that matter~~. Of course he is also completely aware that’s never going to happen, so it would be like pulling teeth from a dragon in the midst of labor to get him to own up to it.

This was not an uncommon occurrence – Severus had learned over his years of teaching just how frequently teenagers would mistake adults for idiots when they wanted to avoid something, and considering it was O.W.L.’s season the amount of Slytherins coming down with things was at it’s annual peak – every year, N.E.W.T. and O.W.L. students would miraculously catch colds when they didn’t feel prepared enough, and every year Severus’ response was the same.

“I will have Madam Pomfrey bring you a tonic, and will send word to your parents. If you’re to miss your examination, they will need to arrange for you to retake it.”

It was amazing, more often than not, how motivational those words could prove to be.
