  • Popsicle: What does your muse do to cool down in the heat? Does your muse overheat often?

Honestly for the most part Severus is usually so chilly that he rarely needs to employ anything more than a mild cooling charm to his robes in the event that it actually gets hot enough to impact him negatively. Though he used to wear t-shirts in the summer, after obtaining his Mark he went out of his way to ensure his arms were always covered, so even in summer he tends to be in varying layers and long sleeves.

For many years this caused little issue, as summers in England are not particularly hot and tend to be rather rainy. In his main verse however, the climb in global temperature has altered the weather in his country so dramatically that he’s actually had to employ cooling charms not only on his clothes, but in his house and on his sheets in particular, as he cannot sleep without at least a sheet over him and with the humidity being so high and the heat so intense this would be stifling without the aid of magic.

  • Does your muse make any strange noises? Or do they do anything relatively strange with their mouth unknowingly?

Lip thinning. Severus does this a lot honestly – it is not uncommon for Severus to look like he just took a big bite out of a raw onion when he wants to say something particularly horrible and his brain has just enough filter to scream bad idea at which point one can visibly witness him swallowing his own venom. It’s magical.

He also hums – a lot. Usually, it is a noncommittal noise meant to indicate he is listening, or thoughtful – it’s not a musical hum so much as it is a rumble of acknowledgement more often than not. That said, in certain – extenuating circumstances – Severus will hum songs as a measure of offering comfort, which is in fact something he picked up from his mother.

Things in the Snape household were not always terrible. Tobias was not always cruel and in fact, for the first few years of his life Severus was actually a very happy child. Even when things started falling apart for Tobias there were long grace periods when things would be good, and it honestly took Severus a year at Hogwarts before he developed bitterness and hate toward his father.

There was an air of tension in the Snape household throughout the whole of December, because there was no guarantee if Tobias would snap or not; Severus never learned what was going on with his family, never came to learn the circumstances and in truth, even if he were to do so now the likelihood that he would forgive his father or regret killing him is very slim.

Severus never understood Tobias’ patterns of behaviour like his mother did, so he was honestly more confused and afraid than angry. He internalized a lot of what was going on and was certain that things were somehow his fault, so he would try harder and honestly be at a loss when this failed. After his first year at Hogwarts, Severus had been exposed to so many children from so many lifestyles, and he had a feeling things were not normal.

After his first summer, he came back t Hogwarts bruised and Lucas immediately informed him he would teach him how to fight so that would stop. Eric procured healing balms by Severus’ estimation of pure magic ( He stole them and Severus honestly took another two years to realize Eric was a fabulous thief. ) and even Destin seemed disturbed. It was after that year that Severus anger started, and things at home got a lot worse when Severus started rebelling.

Honestly I intended for this headcanon to be about some of Tobias good parenting moments but it devolved on me. I need to stress something though, and I feel like it’s the grayest line but end of the day – Tobias was not a monster without a cause. He didn’t attack his family because of two dimensional reasons; that does not excuse what he did, but rather is meant to enforce the fact that he did not deserve to be brutally murdered.

Tobias had choices and he dug his own grave, just as Severus had choices and the one he made is not right simply because it was wrapped in vengeance and catharsis.

Severus winced internally, though outwardly he looked little more than duly chastised. He did not voice a defense – did not assure her that he never once relayed a message that would have brought harm to her, or her family. It did not matter that he had defended them, when he had still by all rights betrayed them

“Your lessons were kinder,” He returned after the silence had hung too heavily, for too long. His hand tightened over his cane, though he made no move to defend himself physically, either, in the event that she lashed out at him. “I am sorry mine had to be so cruel in return.”
